HA!

Whoever said that the sun doesn't shine in Western Washington is WRONG! We've had SUN for over a week now! Right now, its a pleasant 56 degrees. I can handle more weather like this! :)

Chicken Little Christian?!?

So, that past couple of Sundays Pastor Jon has been encouraging the congregation to attempt to break away from the "safe" CRC prayers. There are times during the service in which things are uncomfortable, and I think that it is a really good thing! Church isn't about being comfortable, it's about being uncomfortable and asked to grow in our faith. Did you know that in the Greek, church means the called out ones?!? Interesting. Anyway, back to my original point about being uncomfortable.
Last week Sunday we found out that one of the 4/5 month old babies was in the hospital with a really high fever and doctor's couldn't figure out what was wrong with baby Kyra. As a church we prayed our "safe" CRC prayer that God would be with the doctors, nurses, and the family. We found out yesterday that 10 minutes after we prayed for baby Kyra that the nurses were able to figure out what was wrong with her! :) There is something amazingly powerful about the power of prayer. But, Pastor Jon wasn't statisifed/comfortable with our safe prayer. He is challening us to pray with such power, committment, and abandonment that we start praying that God will remove the disease, or whatever is alling us.
I have to agree with Pastor Jon. I'm getting tired of my "safe CRC" prayers. I keep thinking about what Matthew wrote in chapter 21 verse 22; "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." What's wrong with us for not believing that if we bodly ask for something in prayer that God will hear us and listen to the cries of our hearts?!?
So, the challenge that I'm giving myself this week, and I encourage you to join me, is to boldly pray that God will remove whatever is "in our way."

I DID IT!

I DID IT! I bought my ticket this morning to visit Sarah in China! :) I am so excited about going out there and seeing her and visiting all of the places that I've only read about in history books! Watch out China, here I come! :)

Playing Hooky!

It's snowing and I'm at school enjoying a snow day! :) This is one of the perks of being a teacher. Whenever there is snow or a holiday, I don't have to go into work. Talk about sweet. We're suppose to get some more snow tomorrow, I'll just have to wait and see if we're lucky and get another snow day or a late start. :)

Funny story?!?

Okay, so its been a while since I've last posted, and a lot has happened since then. I went home for 2 glorious weeks and was able to spend some time with everyone in my family! Christmas and New Years were wonderful...not a whole lof of terribly fun stuff going on, but it was still good.
So, I had my mail stopped while I was gone, and one of the wonderful pieces of mail that I recieved was a summon for jury duty in Yakima County. Remember, I live in Skagit County and have changed my voter registration information to reflect this. Anyway, this supposedly came in the mail shortly after I left, and you're suppose to respond within 5 days, or there'll be a warrent for your arrest for not doing this. So, I'm just getting mine in the mail today. I'm not too worried about getting arrested, seeing how they don't have my correct address. :) Oh the joys of government bureocracy! hehehe!
Schools going well...I lost one student over break and gained another one...so my class sizes haven't changed at all, which is nice.
I'm thinking about heading to China at the end of the school year to visit a college roommate of mine. I think that it'll be a lot of fun, and an eye opening experience at the same time. I just need to keep ironing out the fine details, like getting a visa to enter the country. Oh the joys of government bureocracy!
Anyway...I better get ready for my 1st hour class.
