I think I can, I think I can...

Some days I feel like the little engine that could. I find myself constantly saying..."I think I can, I think I can." There is only 2 weeks left of school until spring break...maybe that's why I'm feeling this way. I'm not doing anything special, I'm going to mom and dad's, which will be nice. I'm looking forward to seeing them again. I'm also looking forward to doing nothing for a week. I'm contemplating not taking my GRE study book with me and refuse to study while I'm on "vacation."

I decided that I didn't like not having internet at home, so I saved up at bought a MacBook. I LOVE it! I was a little nervous about having to learn a new operating system, but I'm finding it very easy to use...maybe because it seems "left-handed" to me. I dunno.

There isn't a whole lot going on here by me. The weather is wonderful! Hopefully the weather stays nice for tulip time next month and that the tulips don't bloom too early.

Contract were due this week. I signed on for another year...sorry guys, you're suck! haha. I don't know how many more years I'll continue to teach middle school. I am hoping that someday soon I'll be able to teach high school full time, or teach a combination of middle school and high school. I had that my first year, and I really liked it. There are going to be a lot of changes taking place at school for the next school year. It will be interesting to see how everyone reacts to it...I myself am slightly apprehensive, but I think it's only because I'm not a huge fan of change, even if it is a good type of change. We've already hired our new high school principal. Funny story, we both applied for the same high school teaching position three years ago, and he was offered the contract, and now we get to work together, just at a different school. We're in the process of hiring a new 6th grade teacher. It will be different not having Sherrie at school next fall. Like I said, a lot of changes are taking place at MVC. Hopefully we'll be able to handle all of the changes with grace and love. There is going to be an adjustment period, so we're going to have to learn to be patient.

So, it's been a while...

So, I'm bad at this.
It's exam week! Yikes! I had my 7th graders freak out this morning, just to help them relax. I think that I might do it before our Lit exam tomorrow morning too. All of my exams are written! I just need to print them all. Friday I'll be grading like mad in order to get them done.
Right now the 8th graders are ACTUALLY STUDYING for their geography exam on Thursday. This is a true miracle!
I still recovering from walking pneumonia. I'm starting to feel better...I'm still sleeping a ton. I go back to the dr next week Friday for my 4 month headache check-up. Since I've started taking the different vitamins the headaches the last month have gone WAY down! :) This makes me very happy, and my students too! ;)
Well...that's about the extent of the news in my boring life.

Update

So, I just returned from a teachers convention up in Canada. It was a good time...I was able to see a few friends and classmates from high school and Dordt...it was wonderful! :) Dr. Hilema was one of the featured speakers...so good! He said a few things that convicted me that I need to work on.

Usually I return from convention really excited to start school on Monday, but I'm not. Lately I've been thinking that it's time for me to make a change. I'm not sure what that's all about yet. I would like to start going back to school for my masters. At the moment I've decided to get my masters of history, but I'm still toying with the idea of getting my masters of education. I'm not sure where I would like to attend for my masters. I'm not 100% in love with Western Washington's program, so I'll have to look around. I still have some time to make up my mind. I have a couple of students who are really testing my patience and my love of teaching. I'm not sure how to handle them any more, which makes me sad.

My car is starting not to behave any more...grr! I'm hoping to keep my car for another 25,000 miles before having to trade it in. Keep your fingers crossed!

My middle school volleyball season is almost over. We have two games this week and two more next week. At the moment our record is 3-2...not too bad! Next month starts church league volleyball, and I'm super excited! :) I'm not playing for my church, but that's okay...especially when my team will beat First! (insert evil laugh here)

Picture time =)

Well, it's been a while since I last blogged. Not a whole lot is happening here. I'm in week 4 of school, and it's going well. I'm coaching middle school volleyball once again, and loving it! We have our first game today against LaConner. I hope that we do well!
Before school started, Dale, Janelle, and the boys came out for the weekend. It was wonderful to see them! It was also my first time meeting Tate...what a sweet heart! Bennett has gotten SO BIG since the last time we were together.
















So, schools under way, and I thought that I would so you the HUGE improvement that I did to my room during the summer. I was able to get permission to paint 1 wall of my classroom, so I picked blue in order to stay with the school's colors. I think that it turned out awesome, and I just love it! =) It is a wonderful little splash of color. The kids even like it!


Well, I also thought that I would join the world of grown ups, since I'm suppose to be one...so, in order to join the world of adults, I bought a new queen size bed. My other twin mattress was about as old as dirt, and needed to be replaced.

Summers almost gone!

Where has summer gone? If you find it, please let me know!
People have been asking me what I've been doing this summer, and to tell you the truth, I dunno! Let's see, what have I done this summer?
In June I helped a family from church get their house ready to put on the market. July I had my ear surgery and my history class. August, I'm working at school like mad, and house sitting. School starts at the end of the month, and for some reason, I'm just not feeling like I'm prepared. I also find out soon if my ear surgery improved my hearing at all. I feel like it has...things seem louder to me! At the end of the month, Dale, Janelle, Bennett, and Tate are coming out to visit Grandpa and Grandma, so I'll make a super quick trip out to see them.
